A smooth Beijing arrival starts with the right airport name. Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) and Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) are different airports on different sides of the city. A pickup booked simply for “Beijing airport” is not precise enough. Check the code, terminal and local arrival date on your flight confirmation before choosing transport.
Choose the transfer that fits your arrival
A prearranged private pickup is useful after a long international flight, when travelling with children or when you have several large bags. Its main advantage is a confirmed destination and meeting arrangement. Ask whether the booking includes only a driver or an English-speaking representative as well; these are different services.
Airport rail can be a good choice when your hotel is convenient for its onward connections and you can manage your luggage through stations. Airport buses may offer a useful stop near your destination, but their routes and departure patterns need checking for your date. Licensed taxis provide a direct journey without advance booking; follow airport signs to the official queue and have the destination written in Chinese.
Use the Capital Airport website or Daxing Airport website for the transport facilities at your actual airport. Check first and last services if arriving late. Compare the complete journey to the hotel, including transfers and the walk from the station, rather than only the airport leg.
Information to send for a private pickup
Give the provider your flight number, airport, terminal, arrival date, passenger count and hotel name. Include the full address in Chinese if available. Several properties can have similar English names, and a hutong guesthouse may require a final walk from the nearest road where a vehicle can stop.
Describe your luggage as well as your passenger count. A vehicle with enough seats may not have room for several large suitcases, a folding wheelchair or a pushchair. Request child restraints or other assistance in advance and obtain explicit confirmation. Do not assume a car advertised as a limousine has the accessibility or luggage capacity you need.
Agree on the meeting point
Obtain the exact arrivals meeting area, the name displayed on the sign and a contact method that works after landing. Ask how the driver monitors delays, when included waiting time starts and what happens if immigration or baggage reclaim takes longer than expected. A flight's touchdown time is not the time you will reach the public arrivals hall.

Keep the confirmation available offline. If you cannot find the driver, contact the agreed number before accepting an alternative offer. For a domestic connection or an airport change, confirm where you will collect bags and whether you need to pass through immigration. Entry eligibility is a separate question from booking ground transport; consult the visitor information guide before planning a stopover outing.
Check the full quotation
Ask whether the total covers parking, road tolls, waiting time, late-night service, extra stops and luggage. Establish the payment method, cancellation terms and missed-flight procedure before paying. An airport pickup, an hourly car hire and a sightseeing day are different bookings; tell the provider if you want to stop on the way or retain the vehicle after reaching the hotel.
For departures, work backward from the airline's check-in requirement, then add realistic road time and a margin for traffic. Airport rail departures also need time for transfers and terminal procedures. Your hotel's location, domestic or international flight and travel date matter more than a universal “leave three hours before” rule.
